“Camp
Discovery” summer camp is a week-long recreational and
educational program for children with hemophilia and similar
bleeding disorders, ages 7-15. |
Our residential
summer camp program is held at Cedar Ridge Camp (ACA accredited)
in Louisville, Kentucky. The facility is located on 64 wooded acres
and includes a 2-acre fishing lake, hiking trails, swimming pool,
creek beds with fossils, low and high ropes courses, picnic pavilion,
outdoor stage, and a large dining hall/meeting space. Campers are
housed in air conditioned lodges. Both the dining hall/meeting
space and the lodges are handicapped accessible. Recreational and
educational activities include swimming, canoeing, fishing, water
balloon volleyball, arts and crafts, archery, orienteering, team
building activities, and team challenge courses as well as hemophilia
wellness and self-infusion classes. Special treats are the evening
community camp fire activities, a family cookout at the beginning
of camp, and the awards ceremony at the conclusion of camp. Camp dates are July 9, 2005 – July 13, 2006. Who
